UPDATE: Victim identified in Danville homicide

Police in Danville have identified the victim in a Tuesday evening homicide as 22-year-old Dwight Montel Harris of Danville.

He was found on Cabell St. suffering from apparent gunshot injuries.

His body will be sent to the Medical Examiner's Office in Roanoke for an autopsy, police say.


Police in Danville say they are investigating a possible homicide.

The Danville Police Department responded to a call of shots fired in the 600 block of Cabell St and found a male lying in the roadway. EMS was called to the scene but the male was dead.

At this time, police say the name of the man will be withheld pending notification of next of kin.
