DANVILLE, Va. (WDBJ7) An eclipse viewing party will be held at the Danville Science Center.

The science center was able to get a grant that allowed them to get about 240 pair of those sought-after safety glasses.

They will have various ways you can view the eclipse safely including the glasses, which will be given out first come, first serve.

They will also have a telescope that will give you this type of view, and they will be streaming a live feed from NASA in their digital dome.

"To have something like this happen from coast to coast is pretty rare for us. It was about 99 years ago in 1918 when this happened last," Science Center Education Coordinator Brian Buchanan said.

The event is on Monday from 1 to 4 p.m. and it's free to the public.
