Danville police investigate double murder

Danville police are investigating a double murder that happened Tuesday night.

Police responded to a report of shots fired at an apartment on the 300 block of Hughes Street around 9:10 p.m. When they arrived, they found two men with apparent gunshot wounds.

Allen Wayne McFall, Jr., 47, and John Henry Stewart Jr., 35, were both pronounced dead at the scene. They will be taken to the Medical Examiner's Office in Roanoke for an autopsy.

We spoke to a man who said John Stewart was the best friend he had.

The friend told us he used to live with Stewart and had known him for about 11 years.

"I can't say nothing bad about the man. He was a great boxer, he was a great friend, a good listener. If you had a problem, he was with you. He'd never leave your side," James Thomas Russell said.
