UPDATE: Police in search of man charged with obstructing death investigation

The Danville Police Department is asking for your help in finding a man wanted in connection with the Travel Inn death investigation that occurred yesterday on Main St.

Wayne Lamon McCullor, 40, is charged with possession of a firearm after being convicted of a felony and obstructing a death investigation.

As WDBJ7 reported earlier, the incident is now being treated as a suicide. However, no firearm was found at the scene initially.

Police say they eventually learned that another tenant of the motel had taken the gun from the scene.

McCullor was located and turned in the missing firearm over to investigators.

After further investigation, warrants for McCullor's arrest have been made and Police are searching for his whereabouts at this time.

Right now, police are treating this incident as a suicide. Because of this, the man's name is not being released.

The investigation was prolonged due to key evidence being removed from the scene prior to the arrival of responding officers.

Danville police are investigating after a man's body was found Thursday afternoon.

Authorities said a person cutting grass saw the body behind the Travel Inn on West Main Street around 4:00 p.m.
