DANVILLE, Va. (WDBJ) -- For the last 44 years, the weekend after Mother's Day has been reserved for a special event in Danville: Festival in the Park.

Rides, games, food trucks, and vendors cover Ballou Park. This year, there's even a Medieval section.

"We showcase one of the oldest civic parks in the area. This is a huge old beautiful park so we like to have this event in it, but it's just good to have opportunities for everyone to get out have something to do this weekend. Shake off the winter blues, the rainy winter blues, come on out to the festival," said Russell Carter with Danville Parks and Recreation.

The festival will continue Friday night, all day Saturday, and Sunday afternoon. Friday night is wrist band ride: An all-you-can-ride ticket is $18. Admission to the festival is free.
