Daughters of the American Revolution lay wreath to honor veterans

ROANOKE, Va. (WDBJ) - The Daughters of the American Revolution organization honored our area's veterans with a wreath laying Saturday. The Laying of the Wreath ceremony took place at Lee Plaza in downtown Roanoke. Observers of the ceremony listened as former servicemen and women shared why Veteran's Day is important to them.

Madison Madden, a local chapter member, says that it's important to remember those that have served our country.

"We want our community and the nation at large to really remember our service people that have served with us and we want to honor them and just basically say thank you. We are grateful for their service and duty," Madden said.

"Taps" was also played, followed by a moment of silence.
