ROANOKE, Va. (WDBJ7) -- The Roanoke Sheriff's Office is investigating the death of an inmate at the Roanoke City Jail.
Jeffrey Carl Six was found hanging in his cell during a routine security check around 6:30 Monday night, according to a statement from the Roanoke Sheriff's Office.
Roanoke Fire-EMS transported Six to a local hospital to attempt resuscitation, the statement read. He was pronounced dead by a doctor at the hospital.
Deputies say they do not suspect foul play in connection with Six's death. He was awaiting trial December 13 on a charge of violating a protective order, according to the sheriff's office statement.
