LEXINGTON, Va. (WDBJ7) The remnants of Tropical Storm Barry brought strong winds and heavy rains to southwest Virginia Wednesday afternoon.

The National Weather Service reports somewhere between 50 and 60 tree fell on the campuses of Washington and Lee and the Virginia Military Institute.

According to the NWS, it could have been a microburst because of the highly concentrated area of damage. They plan to bring out a survey team Thursday to inspect the damage and determine the cause.

WDBJ7 has a crew on their way to Lexington and will have more information on WDBJ7 Mornin'.
