Electronic skimmer discovered at Roanoke gas station

Roanoke Police Department is investigating after an electronic skimming device was discovered a the BP Gas Station at 3348 Orange Avenue NE.

Police were called to the gas station Thursday at 8 a.m. for a fraud call.

It was discovered that the skimming device was installed in pump seven.

The pump was last known to be inspected on July 9, and an employee found the pump was tampered with on July 30, at which time the pump was deactivated until it could be inspected.

Police recommend anyone who purchased gas at this gas station between July 9 and July 30 should contact their financial institution.

This is an ongoing investigation.
