FFE Saturday State Final: Appomattox County defeats Stuarts Draft, 42-21, to claim Class 2 title

The Raiders took home the prize Saturday, after defeating the Stuarts Draft Cougars, 42-21.
The Raiders' Cristian Ferguson opened the scoring early in the first quarter as he finds a seam and ripped off the 46 yd TD run to make it 7-nothing.
The Cougars answered right back. Aaron Nice dove in from a yard out, and just like that it's 7-7.
Late in the half, following a short punt, Tre Lawing kept the ball himself and scored from a yard out. Raiders led 14-7 at the halftime break.
Stuarts Draft tied it up midway through the third, but Ty Lawing put it up for Tyler Gilliam in the endzone and the Raiders had a 28-14 lead, a lead they wouldn't give up.
It was 28-21 in the fourth before Lawing called his own number with running room. Lawing turned on the jets down the sideline to the house. The 80-yard TD gallop made it 35-21.
Ferguson finished things off with a TD run and Appomattox went on to win it 32-21, capturing the school's fourth state title in the last five years.
Appomattox County ends the year at 13-2, and as Class 2 champions.
