UPDATE: Roanoke County garage fire causes $50,000 in damage

ROANOKE CO., Va. (WDBJ7) The fire caused an estimated $50,000 in damage.

The cause of the fire was a lawn mower that was just used.

The fire was contained to the garage.

No one was hurt.

The fire happened at a home in the 3000 block of Loch Haven Drive.


The Roanoke County Fire Department is on the scene of a heavy garage fire at 3042 Loch Haven Drive in Roanoke County Wednesday.

When crews arrived, they found smoke and flames coming from the home's garage. The roof of the garage collapsed.

Officials say the fire is controlled -- only smoke is coming from the garage. The fire was contained in less than 30 minutes. No one was injured.

The road has been blocked off to respond to the fire.

Crews from North County, Hollins and Masons Cove stations, and a crew from Roanoke City helped assist in fighting the fire.

Firefighters got a call from a mailman saying the garage was on fire at 3:15 p.m.
