Fire in Madison Heights displaces father and his six children

MADISON HEIGHTS, Va. (WDBJ7)-- A fire Sunday afternoon in Madison Heights is leaving a father and his children without a home.

The call reporting a fire in the 100 block of Lyttleton Lane came in around 3 p.m. Sunday. According to Amherst County Public Safety Director Sam Bryant, a father and his six children were displaced from their home as a result.

No injuries were reported and the fire was brought under control in about 45 minutes. The fire was in the basement and left heat, water and smoke damage throughout the whole house, which was built in 1949.

The American Red Cross is assisting with this incident.

The case is still being looked into.
