Fire in Roanoke County displaces elderly woman

ROANOKE Co., Va. (WDBJ7) Roanoke County Fire and Rescue responded early Sunday morning to a fire on the 85-hundred block of Summer View Drive in the Hollins area.

Crews say they got the call around 12:30 a.m. for a structure fire. They say crews they found smoke coming from the back of the house.

One elderly woman was home at the time, and a dog was rescued from the home, but no one was injured. She will be staying with family in the area.

Crews from Hollins and North County responded. The fire was mostly contained to the area of the laundry room, but there’s smoke and water damage other places.

Damage is estimated to be worth about $5,000.
