ROANOKE, Va. (WDBJ7) - As students head back to school, one of the things that can help them most in the classroom is a full belly.
Five more Roanoke City Schools will now offer free breakfast and lunch to students starting this fall.
That includes Fishburn Park Elementary, Wasena Elementary, Woodrow Wilson Middle, James Madison Middle and Patrick Henry High School.
This is thanks in part to a change under federal guidelines. According to Superintendent Rita Bishop some of those schools will also offer students free dinners.
This means all Roanoke City schools apart from Crystal Spring Elementary and Grandin Court Elementary offer free meals.
Students at those two schools can still qualify for free and reduced meals.
Applications are available at both schools and online here: http://www.heartlandapps.com/
