Former Va. Governor speaks at event in Lynchburg
Former U.S Senator and Virginia Governor, George Allen, spoke at the Salute to Manufacturing Breakfast in Lynchburg Tuesday morning.
The event was a celebration of manufacturing in America - especially for those in the Lynchburg region.
Allen, now the chairman of the Manufacturing Competitiveness Initiative, spoke about the importance of keeping businesses local. “We’ll see more things made in the USA by American working men and working women if we have lower taxes, affordable energy, reasonable regulations and a skilled capable work force," explained Allen.
The Lynchburg area is home to more than 288 manufacturers, according to the Virginia Labor Market Information.
