Former WDBJ7 reporter Orlando Salinas denied bond in rape case

MONTGOMERY CO., Va. (WDBJ7) Former WDBJ7 reporter Orlando Salinas has been denied bond.

Salinas is being held at the Montgomery County Jail. He is charged with forcible sodomy and rape. Both charges are felonies.

According to court records, the offense date is listed as January 11. The woman who Salinas is accused of raping is not his wife, the court documents say.

Salinas was hired by WDBJ7 in 2012. He was released by the station due to insubordination in April of 2015.

Prior to working at WDBJ7, he was a correspondent for Fox News.

If convicted, Salinas could face five years to life in prison for each charge. His prior criminal record includes contributing and three counts of larceny.

Salinas is scheduled to be back in court on Oct. 19. He is being represented by Brad McConnell.
