Four more localities file civil actions against opioid producers

Covington, Floyd, Louisa, and Madison counties are the latest Virginia localities to bring legal action in Virginia state courts against the opioid industry, according to civil actions each locality has filed.

The localities each filed individual lawsuits in state court against opioid manufacturers, distributors, and pharmacy benefit managers.

Covington is seeking $15 million in damages from the defendants, including Purdue Pharma, Floyd County is seeking $30 million, Louisa County seeks $50 million, and Madison County seeks $40 million, according to court documents.
