GO Fest a success, despite soggy Sunday
Despite a soggy Sunday, organizers of GO Fest say there are many reasons to be pleased with this year's edition of the popular festival.
The large crowds were gone Monday morning, but exhibitors and vendors were packing up and clearing out.
Organizers are still crunching the numbers, so we don't have any estimates of the impact, but they saw growth in many areas.
Pete Eshelman is director of the Roanoke Outside Foundation.
"Food vendors ran out of food on Saturday. And they know how big this is. They plan accordingly, so their numbers were up," Eshelman told WDBJ7. "We're talking to our different retail vendors, to our partners. We had commemorative Hydro Flask pints that we were selling, those sold out, so on all fronts everything was a great event."
And Eshelman said the event wouldn't have happened without more than 400 volunteers who pitched in over five days.
