LYNCHBURG, Va. (WDBJ7) -- The 11th annual Get Downtown festival, taking place Friday, September 6, will cause road closures in the downtown area. Main Street, from Seventh Street to Commerce Street, will close at 5:30 p.m. and will reopen after 10:30 p.m. Vehicles will need to be moved by 4:30 p.m. Intersections of cross streets at Commerce and Church Streets will be barricaded to block traffic on Main Street.

Parking decks and lots with Main Street entrances will also be barricaded. Unless the owners are staying for the festival, vehicles from these parking lots must be moved by 5:30 p.m.

This year, the vendors will be stationed on the sidewalks instead of the streets and are asked not to block storefronts until the street closures. There is an increased number of public shuttles to prevent congestion. Shuttle and parking information can be found at http://www.getdowntownlynchburg.com/getting-downtown
