DANVILLE, Va. (WDBJ7) -- God's Storehouse in Danville will be holding its 2nd annual Shred Out Hunger event on Saturday, Nov. 10.
From 9 a.m. until noon, you can bring a box of personal documents you want shredded in exchange for a donation of canned items or hygiene products to be given to those in need. Monetary donations will also be accepted.
During WZBJ24's 7 a.m. show on Friday, organizer Karen Harris explained how the event got started.
"We know that people in the community have documents that need to get shredded and thought that was a good opportunity to help them out and help us out at the same time, so we are encouraging people to bring canned goods or hygiene products,” Harris said.
They recommend bringing at least 5 canned goods for each box of documents you need shredded.
The event will take place at God's Storehouse located at 750 Memorial Drive in Danville.
