BOTETOURT COUNTY, Va. (WDBJ) - Many out-of-towners got to experience the region October 13 at Virginia's Blue Ridge Gran Fondo Bicycle Ride.
This was VBR's second annual bike ride. It began and ended at the Greenfield Education and Training Center in Daleville. Cyclists got to choose between a 33-, 48- or 81-mile route. All the routes offered cyclists views of the rivers and mountains in Botetourt County.
"We have a strong mountain bike culture but a strong rode bike culture as well, so I think this is a really good chance for folks to come out and ride with a bunch of people, meet some new friends on the road," Tim Miller, Race Director of the Gran Fondo, said.
The ride benefits research for the auto immune disease, Sarcoidosis.
