AMHERST COUNTY, Va. (WDBJ7) -- More than one year after an EF-3 tornado tore through Amherst County, the community is getting a big help.
State Farm presented a $23,000 disaster relief grant Wednesday to aid in rebuilding efforts.
The check was given to Amherst county Habitat for humanity, which is handling construction for the disaster relief group.
The money will be used to help clean debris and assist the 14 families whose cases are still open.
"ADRG is running very low on funds so we have this house to complete, we've got three other houses that are under construction that are not our construction jobs, but we have to fill th gaps between insurance and fullness," said Debbie Habel with the Amherst Disaster Recovery Group.
This is a youth involvement grant.
The ADRG encourages students to come out and volunteer.
