Grown Here at Home: Farm to Feast fine dining experience coming to Market Square in Roanoke

ROANOKE., Va. (WDBJ7) -- From one of our beautiful farms right to the dinner table. That’s the whole idea behind Farm to Feast.

"It’s a five-course meal that will be right here in Market Square. All the food will be directly sourced from our farmers on the farmers market to really highlight the quality and diversity of food we have down here," explained Jaime Clark of Downtown Roanoke, Inc.

This is the second year Downtown Roanoke, Inc. and The Historic Roanoke City Market are bringing this event to the Star City. As you can see from last year’s event, the food is sure to be exquisite. It almost looks too pretty to eat! Local beer and wine will also be served.

"Mark Baldwin from Blue Ridge Catering does the food, and he always makes everything taste super delicious," Clark said.

It's more than just a fancy dinner. All proceeds will benefit the SNAP program on the farmers market.

"We take anyone who receives food stamp benefits, they can come up to our office and double their money, so if they spend up to $20, we’ll give them an additional $20 that they can spend on the farmers market buying fresh fruits and vegetables and other food items," Clark said. It’s a fantastic market with a lot of great vendors. We’ve had some that have been here for over 100 years, so it just makes the area even more vibrant, she said.

Farm to Feast will take place Sunday, August 18, from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. at Market Square in downtown Roanoke. Tickets are $100, and only 100 tickets will be sold.
