HENRY CO., Va. (WDBJ7) Virginia State Police are investigating an accident that killed a Henry County man on Sunday.

The crash happened around 12:50 a.m. on Route 58, east of Route 695.

A pickup truck was traveling on Route 58 when it ran off the right side of the road. The driver then overcorrected, which caused the pickup to cross back over Route 58 and overturn.

The driver, David W. Hankins Jr., 46, of Axton, was not wearing a seat belt and was thrown from the truck. He was taken to Martinsville Memorial Hospital, where he died later Sunday morning.

No other vehicles were involved.

State police are trying to find out what caused Hankins to run off the road.
