UPDATE: Suspect in 2018 Danville homicide located in Texas

DANVILLE, Va. (WDBJ7) Update:
According to the Danville Police Department, a man suspected in a Danville murder back in late December has been found in Texas.

The suspect was identified as Antwain Maurice Jones. Officers with the U.S. Marshal service located Jones in Gregg County Texas.

Danville Police said in a press release they are waiting for Jones to be transported from Texas back to Danville.

Jones is believed by the Danville Police Dept. to be a suspect in the murder of David Bernard Stewart, who was killed in late December.

Police have identified the victim in a Sunday morning homicide.

Police say 31-year-old David Bernard Stewart of Danville died from gunshot wounds. A 23-year-old female is in the hospital receiving treatment. Her identity is unknown at this time.

As a result of an investigation, two people are being sought after by Danville Police.

Brandon Marcha Jones, Age 27, of Danville VA, is currently wanted for felony possession of drugs. Antwain Maurice Jones, Age 34, of Culpeper VA, is currently wanted for domestic assault and battery and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.

The Danville Police Department says one person is dead after a shooting early this morning.

Officers were called around 3:10 a.m. to the 400 block of Downing Drive for a report of shots fired.

When they arrived on scene, they found two victims with gunshot wounds.

One victim, a 23-year-old woman, was taken to SOVAH Health for treatment, and is said to be undergoing surgery as of 6 a.m.

The other victim, a 31-year-old man, was pronounced dead on the scene. His body will be taken to the Medical Examiner’s office in Roanoke for an autopsy.

The victims’ names have not been released yet. This is being investigated as a homicide.
