UPDATE: House damaged in morning fire to be condemned

The house that caught fire early Friday morning sustained major damaged and will have to be condemned, Danville Fire Department reports stated.

The home at 907 1/2 Halifax Road, which was vacant at the time, caught fire at about 7:32 a.m. The blaze was battled and secured by the Danville Fire Department using three engines, a ladder truck, a command unit, a support unit, rehab unit and a Fire Marshal. Seventeen fire personnel were on the scene for 3 hours and 45 minutes, the city said in a release.

The Danville Life Saving Crew, Danville Electric Dept., and Danville Police Department assisted on scene.

The city fire marshal's office is still working to determine a cause.


The Danville Fire Department is on the scene of a house fire on Halifax road in Danville Friday morning.

The Fire Department received the call about a fire at 7:35 a.m on the 900 block of Halifax road.

There is no information at this time if there was anybody inside the home at the time of the fire.

The cause of the fire is also unknown.
