Hurricane Dorian: How you can help

Several local organizations are collecting supplies and donations to help those affected by Hurricane Dorian.

Here's how you can help:

Gleaning for the World is collecting supplies through Saturday, Sept. 7.

Friday: Sam's Club on Wards Road in Lynchburg from 10 a.m. until 6 p.m.
Saturday: Walmart in Appomattox from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m., and parked between Kroger and Overstreet Ace Hardware in Forest from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m.

God's Pit Crew is also collecting supplies through Sunday, Sept. 8.

Friday and Saturday: Walmart on E. Stuart Drive in Galax and Sam's Club on Piedmont Place in Danville from 10 a.m. until 7 p.m.
Saturday: Willow Tree Antiques and Primitives in Roanoke County on Buck Mountain Road from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Sunday: Willow Tree Antiques and Primitives from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.

God's Pit Crew is asking for bottled water and other items to include in its blessing buckets. If you can't make it to one of these collections areas, but still want to donate, you can visit the God's Pit Crew website.
