Hurricane Irma pup still waiting for 'furever' home

LYNCHBURG, Va. (WDBJ7) -- A dog at the Lynchburg Humane Society is still looking for his "furever" home after being there for more than two years.

Leroy was evacuated from Jacksonville, Fl. during Hurricane Irma in early Sept., 2017.

The shelter just brought in 16 new dogs from Hurricane Dorian but they're hoping Leroy will be next to go.

Organizers say he needs an owner looking for a high-energy partner.

They say helping dogs just like Leroy is a part of their mission. “We pride ourselves on being someone who can help as many pets as we can and obviously during storm season there is a need for pets who already live in those areas to go where they will be safe," explained Kayleigh Raposa with the humane society.

Leroy is a mixed seven year old pup and loves a good belly rub.
