LYNCHBURG, VA (WDBJ7) -- Lynchburg Fire Department's Cancer Awareness Campaign is underway.
The event raises money for the Alan B. Pearson Cancer Patient Support Fund by selling t-shirts and sweaters.
This year's design pays tribute to the 10th anniversary of the campaign.
Leaders say it's been a successful campaign because of their commitment to fighting the disease. "We either have firefighters that have cancer, or we have firefighter's family members who have cancer, we have community members who have cancer, so it's just so important for us to get the word out and be able to raise some money to support some cancer initiatives here in the city of Lynchburg," said fire chief Greg Wormser.
To celebrate 10 years, funds will also go to the Virginia Firefighter Cancer Support Network.
