LYNCHBURG, VA (WDBJ7) Lynchburg is about to get a whole lot busier as the first wave of new students arrives back at Liberty University.
The school's senior vice president of spiritual development, David Nasser, said this will be largest on-campus student body the school has ever had and the largest class of students in the history of the school.
Freshman arrive Wednesday to begin a new chapter of their lives, something Nasser is excited to be a part of.
"Last year we felt like God had blessed us with our greatest year ever," he said. "It seems to be trending that we are going to be going to even newer heights this year."
To get ready for the students, a lot of construction has been taking place over the summer, including the new football stadium.
"Coach Hugh Freeze's first year, his inaugural year, as head coach is going to fill the new stadium to capacity."
Nassar is also stoked about this year's speaker line up for convocation.
"World leaders from all walks of life will be coming here; from Nobel laureates to best-selling authors to political powerhouse speakers to professional athletes."
All the additions have the same intention the school has had since its founding in 1971 to "train champions for Christ."
"We're expecting God to do great things this semester," Nasser said.
