ROANOKE, Va. (WDBJ7) - The new CEO of LewisGale Medical Center started on the job this week.
Lance Jones, who hails originally from New Zealand, said southwest Virginia reminds him of home.
According to LewisGale officials, Jones has more than 18 years in healthcare experience. Jones said he came to the United States 24 years ago as a physical therapist and worked his way up into leadership positions and administration.
Jones said he was attracted to the family-like feeling of LewisGale and was impressed by the hospital's operations and relationship with its other centers around southwest Virginia. He feels he'll be able to help maintain and propel LewisGale with his nearly two decades of experience.
"The perspective now that I've had in seven different markets around the country and just seeing ways that physicians and associates have been able to align around very commonly performed clinical services is something that I certainly look forward to sharing with the teams here," he said.
The main thing Jones said he wants to impart on patients is that he believes they will be treated by superb staff members when they come to the hospital.
