LEXINGTON, Va. (WDBJ7) There was a Memorial Day ceremony in Lexington.
They laid wreaths, listened to music from the gospel group “Wonder” and heard speakers at the Veteran’s Memorial as part of the event.
“It’s a very bittersweet day," said Air Force Col. Robert Webb, who was the main speaker at the event. "I can think of individuals, friends, wingmen, people I’ve flown with over nearly 30 years who are not here to enjoy the day. So it’s always a reminder to me that freedom doesn’t come free.”
The morning ceremony is an annual event in Lexington.
