LEXINGTON, Va. (WDBJ7) Many people were celebrating Ash Wednesday in church today.
In Lexington, though, three ministers from three local churches took the celebration out into the street with “Ashes to Go” in front of the Lexington Presbyterian Church on Main Street.
“We thought, and I think it's a movement across the country," explains Rev. Bill Klein of Lexington Presbyterian Church, "to be out on the streets and to greet people as they come by and to introduce them to this whole notion of Ash Wednesday, and to impose ashes upon people who are interested."
They’re hoping to inspire people to help their neighbor during this Lenten season.
