RICHMOND, Va. (WDBJ7) Republican Ed Gillespie and Democrat Ralph Northam will have some company in the race for Governor.
Libertarian Cliff Hyra collected enough signatures to put his name on the November ballot.
Thursday, he formally kicked off his campaign in Richmond.
He says Virginia voters should have an alternative.
"And I really want there to be an option, a third party option," Hyra told us in an interview via Skype. "There's a big constituency in Virginia. There's a lot of libertarian voters now, national third party voters, moderates, independents who want an alternative to the establishment candidates."
Hyra is a Virginia Tech graduate.
A patent attorney, he lives near Richmond with his wife and three children.
