Lynchburg, Va. (WDBJ7) Liberty University has hired former North Carolina assistant coach, Scott Jackson, as the new Flames Head Baseball Coach.

Jackson spent the last eight seasons in Chapel Hill as an assistant coach and recruiting coordinator for the Tar Heels and before that, he spent the 2008 season as Liberty’s pitching coach. During his one season with the Flames, the team went 35-26-1 and 14-7 in the Big South.

Jackson becomes the seventh head coach in Liberty’s baseball program history, replacing Jim Toman, who resigned in June to pursue other opportunities.

Liberty is holding a welcoming press conference for their new head coach Monday at 4 p.m. in the Liberty Baseball Stadium Team Room.
