LYNCHBURG, Va. (WDBJ7)-- On May 27, 2019, the Military Order of the World Wars, Virginia Piedmont Chapter and Veterans of Foreign Wars, Desmond T. Doss Memorial Post 12179 all want you to feel like it is 1918.

That is because of Private Harry Brooks, and the honor they want to bestow upon his efforts in the first World War.

During a Memorial Day Observance Ceremony beginning at 11 a.m., local actor Greg Ritchie will bring onlookers the final minutes before the war ended that included Private Brooks losing his life for his country.

Heritage High School's US Marine Corps Junior ROTC Color Guard will also be on-hand along with the Honor Guard Rifle Squad from American Legion Post 16 in order to pay tribute.

According to a press release from The Military Order of the World Wars Virginia Piedmont Chapter in conjunction with the Veterans of Foreign Wars Desmond T. Doss Memorial Post 12179, seating is open to the public and the total run time of the ceremony should be between 30 and 40 minutes.
