The single-vehicle crash happened on Route 793, just south of Route 687 in Henry County. The 2017 Ford Explorer was going north on Route 793 and was hit by a tree. It then ran off the left side of the road and hit a pole and several other trees.

Charles Howard Bradshaw, 62, and Sherri Gordon Bradshaw, 63, both of Ridgeway, were wearing their seatbelts and died at the scene.

Charles Bradshaw was chief of the Horsepasture Fire Department.

"We are grateful for Chief Bradshaw’s service, unwavering courage as a first responder, and his dedication to protecting citizens," said a statement posted to the Henry County Facebook page.
