ROANOKE, Va. (WDBJ7) -- A group of African immigrants is coming together to help the younger generations.
Three friends decided to host an inspiring event called "Comeback". The purpose is to provide an opportunity for young immigrants to get plugged into the community and initiate mentorship.
"There are a lot of opportunities as long as people get up and ask and people are willing to be out there to help out. That's why we are here to show people that there are others in Roanoke here to help," said Bukuru Celestin, one of the event's organizers.
More than 40 attendees will hear from speakers and also have the opportunity to connect with older residents who've lived in the Roanoke area for years.
The group hopes to make the event annual.
