TAZEWELL CO., Va. (WDBJ7) State police say a Tazewell man was killed in a wreck on Route 460 on Monday afternoon.

It happened at 4:20 p.m., just west of Route 820 in Tazewell County.

A tractor-trailer driver had just made a legal U-turn on Route 460 and pulled onto the right shoulder to finish turning, according to state police. As it began to merge onto the eastbound travel lanes, it pulled out in front of a 2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee. The Jeep was unable to avoid the logging truck and rear-ended it.

The driver of the Jeep, Michael E. Reynolds, 68, was taken to Tazewell Community Hospital where he died later that night. He was wearing a seat belt.

The driver of the tractor-trailer, Brandon Blevins, 31, of Tazewell, was not hurt.

Blevins is charged with failure to yield the right of way.
