Lost something at the airport?
Losing things at the airport can be a headache, but a local airport is trying to make the reunion process painless.
Roanoke-Blacksburg Regional Airport staff find things like coats, tablets, wallets, and even a drone. Now they are partnering with an app called Crowdfind. The goal of the new process is to make it easier to reunite travelers with lost items.
"It's an Instagram style lost and found, where people can go to our webpage," said Brad Boettcher of Roanoke-Blacksburg Regional Airport. "They can access the lost and found, and browse through the pictures. If they recognize their own they can go and make a claim. We verify it and reunite them with their items."
Clothing not claimed after a certain period are donated to Goodwill or other area non-profits. A recent test with the processes showed a 50% decrease in lost and found phone calls.
