Lt. Governor Fairfax adamantly denies sexual assault allegations

RICHMOND, Va. (WDBJ7) -- It was business as usual inside the Senate Chamber as lawmakers got back to work Monday morning.

But in the halls of the State Capitol, a growing crowd of reporters and photographers, waiting to hear from the Lt. Governor.

"What I do know is that the truth is 100 percent on our side," Lt. Gov. Fairfax said.

Fairfax acknowledged a consensual encounter this his accuser while he was the DNC in 2004

"So I met her, I mentioned, we met, talked, I did not know her prior to. I was 25-years-old I was not married, a campaign staffer."

He was adamant he did not commit a sexual assault.

"The allegation is completely false as was indicated in our statement. and if you read through the story you'll see it was uncorroborated - and the fact that they would run a story that was uncorroborated from 15 years ago tells you exactly what the smear is all about."
