Lynchburg Circuit Court Clerk announces retirement after 45 years

LYNCHBURG, Va. (WDBJ7) -- After 45 years of serving Lynchburg citizens, the Circuit Court Clerk announced Wednesday he will not be seeking re-election and will retire at the end of the year.

Wingfield accepted the position of Lynchburg Circuit Court Clerk in November 2010.

Wingfield signs off on his retirement announcement saying, "I want to thank the citizens of Lynchburg for allowing me the great honor of serving them in this 45 year journey that has been nothing short of life changing for me. I have been extremely blessed and look forward to staying involved in this community."

Prior to accepting the position of Circuit Court Clerk, Wingfield served as a Captain of the Lynchburg Police Department and an in-house investigator at the Lynchburg Commonwealth Attorney's Office.
