LYNCHBURG, Va. What does the future hold for Lynchburg City Schools?
That was the topic of discussion at Tuesday night’s joint city council and school board meeting. One of the biggest challenges facing the school system is the achievement gap between White and non-White students.
LCS Superintendent Dr. Scott Brabrand says the school system is working to find a solution.
“Developing a relationship between the teacher and the student, which has to happen, but also between the teacher and the student and the grandparent or the aunt and uncle or the caregiver so that the student knows everyone is working together," says Dr. Brabrand.
Both the school board and city council also decided that more collaboration is also needed between the two to help Lynchburg students succeed.
