Lynchburg Police arrest man for August shooting

LYNCHBURG, Va. (WDBJ7)-- UPDATE: Lynchburg Police say the suspect in an August shooting has been arrested.

Tuesday night, police took 37-year-old Nicholas Jones of Amherst into custody after a traffic stop. He is charged with malicious wounding, possession of a firearm by convicted felon, use of a firearm in the commission of a felony, three counts of shooting into an occupied dwelling, possession of marijuana, and driving on a suspended/revoked license.

ORIGINAL STORY: Lynchburg Police have named a suspect in connection with a shooting on Buchanan Street.

Nicholas Jones, 37, of Amherst, is wanted for charges of malicious wounding, possession of a firearm by convicted felon, use of a firearm in the commission of a felony, and three counts of shooting into an occupied dwelling. The suspect is listed at 5'5".

August 19, a woman was taken to a hospital with a gunshot wound at about 2:42 a.m. after the reported shooting in the 1100 block of Buchanan Street. Her injuries are believed to be non-life-threatening.
