LYNCHBURG, Va. (WDBJ7) In case you're planning to travel by air anytime soon, one airport in our region is now offering additional flights.

Starting Thursday, Lynchburg Regional Airport is offering seven daily roundtrip flights to and from Charlotte. That's an increase of one flight each day, operated by American Airlines.

Next month American will add a larger "CR7" jet to its fleet in Lynchburg, offering more seats to serve local customers.

"That will give us not just more seat capacity but also a first class cabin, so you're going to see improvement in both the quality of service as well as the frequency," said Mark Courtney, Lynchburg Regional Airport's director.

Airport leaders have launched what they call an "aggressive" marketing campaign, featuring billboards and radio advertisements, to promote their expanded service.
