Lynchburg man arrested for June 21 car theft

LYNCHBURG, Va. (WDBJ7) One vehicle theft crime in Lynchburg led to an arrest of another.

On June 21, Lynchburg Police pursued and recovered a stole Ford Fusion but the driver ran and wasn’t arrested.

On June 22, police recovered another stolen vehicle, a Chevy Colorado, and arrested the 17-year-old suspect and 16-year-old passenger.

A 17-year-old male was charged with vehicle theft and attempt to elude police. The 16-year-old female was charged with grand larceny.

Inside both of these recovered vehicles were many pieces of stolen property from other vehicles. Along with other evidence, this investigation led police to the suspect who stole the Ford Fusion.

Lynchburg man Antoine Dishon Brown, 23, turned himself in July 6. He had 27 warrants for vehicle theft, larceny from vehicles and tampering with vehicles.

This investigation is still ongoing and additional charges are pending for brown.

Police say since April, there have been more than 100 reports of crimes involving thefts from vehicles. Specifically, there have been 114 larceny reports, 15 tampering with vehicle reports and 15 vehicle theft reports.
