Lynchburg man arrested after early morning apartment shooting

LYNCHBURG, Va. (WDBJ) -- Update:
A Lynchburg man was located and arrested after an early morning shooting at the Milwood Apartments.

Lynchburg police said Carlos D. Harper was arrested shortly before 4:00 p.m. Wednesday.

Police are investigating a malicious wounding after an early-morning shooting at the Millwood apartments in Lynchburg.

Lynchburg police responded to 6224 Graves Mill Road after a report a 30-year-old man was shot.

Police said two men had a confrontation outside the Millwood apartments, when Carlos D. Harper, 24, of Lynchburg pulled a handgun and shot the man.

The victim was taken to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Lynchburg police have since charged Harper with malicious wounding and use of a firearm in the commission of a felony.

Harper's whereabouts are unknown by police and the investigation is still ongoing.
