Lynchburg shop makes jewelry out of broken skateboards

LYNCHBURG, Va. (WDBJ7) -- Looking for a unique gift for the holidays?

Why not earrings made out of a skateboard...

The owner at Scene 3 makes jewelry out of broken skateboards.

Jeff Gray has been crafting the jewelry and other unique items for several years.

He makes coasters, card holders, and even Christmas ornaments. “Because when people come to get a new board they’d usually leave their old board and I would throw away stacks of old boards because I didn’t know what to do with them, and I figured I’m recycling paper, and cardboard and, plastic, why not skateboards?” said Gray.

The shop uses a redemption system.

When you bring in an old skateboard, you get a few bucks off your next one.

On Saturday, Gray is giving out a free Christmas ornament with a purchase of $50 or more.
