LYNCHBURG, Va. (WDBJ7) A Lynchburg mother is facing prison time on charges related to the injury of her infant.

Crystal Goode entered an Alford Plea on one count of child abuse in Lynchburg Circuit Court Wednesday morning. An Alford Plea means Goode knows prosecutors have enough evidence to convict her, but she maintains her innocence.

Prosecutors say Goode's child, who was less than a month old, was taken to a hospital last fall with swelling on both sides of its brain. In court Wednesday Goode told a judge she would not intentionally hurt her daughter, but she did not think she would be able to prove that in front of a jury.

In exchange for her Alford Plea, a separate charge of child endangerment was dropped by prosecutors.

Goode faces between two and ten years in prison when she's sentenced June 14.
