Orange Avenue has re-opened.
The pedestrian who was hit by a truck Friday morning on Orange Avenue has died, according to the Roanoke Police Department.
Investigators say the man who was hit by the truck and a friend were attempting to cross Orange Avenue near the Days Inn when the he was hit by a truck. The pedestrian was taken to Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital where he was pronounced dead.
The driver of the truck remained at the scene. No charges have been placed.
The eastbound lanes of Orange Avenue from Williamson Road to Kimball Avenue will be closed while the investigation continues.
Police are waiting to identify the man who died until his family is notified.

On June 17, 2016 at 9:48 a.m., Roanoke Police responded to the 500 block of Orange Avenue N.E. in reference to a pedestrian struck by a vehicle. On arrival, officers located the pedestrian in the eastbound lanes of Orange Avenue. The adult male pedestrian was transported to Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital where he was pronounced dead. Preliminary investigation shows that the deceased and a friend were attempting to cross the east bound lanes of Orange Avenue when the deceased stepped out in front of the vehicle and was struck. There driver of the vehicle remained on the scene, and no charges have been placed. The identification of the pedestrian is being withheld until notification of the next of kin has been made. The east bound lanes of Orange Avenue from Williamson Rd to Kimball Avenue will be closed until traffic investigators finish processing the scene. Roanoke police say a truck hit a pedestrian along Orange Ave. on Friday morning.
The person was taken to the hospital. It's not clear yet how badly he or she was hurt.
Eastbound Orange Ave. is closed between Williamson Road and Hollins Road. Drivers will be detoured on Williamson Road.
The closure will remain until at least 1 p.m. or 2 p.m., according to a Roanoke police spokesman.
Police are directing traffic.
